Furniture luminaire with a high degree of lighting comfort
MUNICH - Osram has just launched a new furniture luminaire that provides much more luminous flux than luminaires with conventional fluorescent lamps. The name of this newcomer is "Luminestra EL".
It is ideal for installing under kitchen cabinets or in bookcases and display cabinets, and can also be used as a work light in banks, language laboratories and library reading rooms, for example. This new luminaire will be welcome wherever space is at a premium but particularly bright and economical light is needed, either in the home or in the commercial sector.
The remarkably compact Luminestra EL is available in 8 W and 13 W versions. Both are equipped with the T5 Lumilux Interna fluorescent lamp in light colour 41-827, also developed by Osram. This particularly high-quality lamp produces a luminous flux that is up to 35% higher than that produced by standard fluorescent lamps with the Universal White light colour. It offers good colour rendering and its light is decidedly warm, much like light from an ordinary light bulb.
Another advantage of this new luminaire, which can be installed singly or as strip lighting, is its wide prismatic cover that ensures that the light that falls on the work surface is glare-free. The large area around the lamp helps provide good illumination.
The luminaire is equipped with Quicktronic electronic control gear so it offers all the advantages associated with modern energy-saving operation, including instant starting that prolongs lamp life, low thermal output and automatic safety shutdown when the lamp finally comes to the end of its very long life.
The Luminestra EL is supplied as a complete luminaire ready for installation with switch, 2 m power cable and plug. The 8 W version is 320 mm long, and the 13 W version is 230 mm longer. A standardised connector system with an adapter (supplied) and connecting cable of various lengths (10, 60 and 100 cm; available as accessories) means that the units can be quickly and easily wired. They can also be installed with or without spacing either in line or at angles.
