Energy saving products were and are OSRAM’s daily lifeblood
With energy saving light everyone can contribute to climate protection
As light accounts for around 20% of global electricity consumption, lighting products are these days in the focus of public attention. "We all must contribute to protect our environment as a living space for future generations. With energy saving light everyone can contribute to climate protection." explains Martin Goetzeler, CEO of OSRAM.
The promotion of energy efficient products has been in the past and will remain in the future a major factor in OSRAM’s global product development and business strategy. OSRAM has been one of the trendsetters in this field and was for example the inventor of the energy saving lamp with integrated electronic control gear in 1985.
This year OSRAM is introducing further innovations in the market e.g. DULUX EL Dim energy saving lamps with integrated dimming function and an assortment of energy saving halogen lamps. “We offer the end consumer and the professional user a range of choices to replace the incandescent lamp and other less efficient technologies” explains Martin Goetzeler, CEO of OSRAM.
Through its participation in national and international industry associations, OSRAM is actively influencing the political shift towards more efficient lighting all over the world. The timetable of when such conversions can be achieved may vary from country to country and depend mainly on legislation, manufacturing capacities and affordability of energy efficient alternatives.
Goetzeler points out that the change to energy efficient solutions is also a matter of quality: “It has to be secured that energy efficient lamps conform with highest standards and are a convincing contribution to the environment protection, also with regard to other environmental aspects like components and production processes”.
