Benefits of Energy-Efficient Lighting Upgrade
OSRAM Lighting Services (OLS) offers consultancy and refurbishment of existing inefficient lighting installations - so called "Energy-Efficient Lighting Upgrades".
Lighting accounts for 19 % of global electricity consumption and is therefore one of the big levers of energy and cost reductions. Electricity has never been so expensive as it is today and efficient lighting can save a large amount of energy and money.
Lighting installations with T12 or T8 fluorescent lamps in combination with an electromagnetic control gear that are replaced by modern T5 fluorescent lamps with an electronic control gear typically show a 30% reduction potential in consumed electricity and operating costs.
A further improvement with adaptive Lighting Management Systems (LMS) including presence detection and daylight-dependent dimming normally leads to a total savings potential of up to 70%.
Besides economical benefits, Energy Efficient Lighting Upgrades take into consideration environmental aspects as well. Efficient lighting can save a large amount of energy. If only 30% of the potential for energy-saving lighting systems were used, almost one fifth of the worldwide demand for electricity for lighting could be saved – and 260 million tonnes less CO2 would be released into the atmosphere.
